Be inspired by colour

Frank Melo • May 3, 2023

Your steel building can be built with an exciting combination of pre-engineered siding colours to convey brand or personality with your exterior…

Workplaces are a combination of the artistic and the practical. Guests and employees want a cool-looking environment that shows off style and creates a comforting environment where they can be at ease to reach their potential and be productive. Businesses also want people to feel welcome and be productive, yet also in a way that’s affordable to create, easy to maintain and retain its look over time so it doesn’t feel outdated. If the exterior and interior design can reflect company branding and corporate standards at the same time, then so much the better.

Colour is important in conveying a feeling to guests as they approach your building or in creating a proper
setting to maximize your business’ effectiveness as a headquarters, sales space or production and storage facility.
An appropriate and well-adorned building façade creates the ideal and ‘oh-so-important’ first impression.

When it comes time to plan your business’s next facility, the exterior design is more than just materials and design.
With a little psychology and artistic flair, you can use a combination of colours and stunning finishes to showcase the architectural beauty of one of your business’ most important and valuable assets. Turn your pre-engineered steel facility into a beautiful showpiece that will promote your company to those passing by and become a welcoming destination that will leave your guests impressed.

The case for colour

In a very brief introduction to the psychology of colour, building colour is like presenting “a new product and creates a first impression, favorable or negative. Colour choice influences our body, character, behavior and mood. It’s based on static factors and also psychological, cultural and social factors”.

It has long been known that colour can be used to guide people’s impressions or to encourage a certain emotion. It’s no surprise that many fast-food franchises choose to incorporate bright red and yellow into their corporate branding and logos because they encourage hunger. Blue colours are soothing, reds connote passion and excitement, oranges are friendly, greens are relaxing and pinks sedate.

“The color is light, beauty and harmony, but also mental balance, comfort and excitement. Colors in architecture are necessary to embellish, highlight, illuminate and separate spaces... and also to transmit sensations and comfort.”

The colours you choose, not only for your interior décor but for the exterior of your building, shouldn’t be limited. Fortunately, pre-engineered steel panels are available in a wide selection of shades to help create the exact impression you want for your employees and guests.

Summit Steel Buildings offers a wide variety of subtle or bright colours for your next building, available in a variety of gauge widths and materials:

  • Siliconized Polyester (26- and 24-gauge material)

Colours: Cobalt Blue, Hawaiian Blue, Burnished Slate, Charcoal Gray, Ash Gray, Koko Brown, Desert Sand, Saddle Tan, Light Stone, Solar White, Polar White (straight polyester), Rustic Red, Crimson Red and Fern Green.

  • Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) low gloss (26-gauge material)

Colours: Bone White, Snow White, Slate Gray, Medium Bronze, Brownstone, Almond, Brite Red, Harbor Blue and Classic Green.

Importance of choice

When you choose to create your ideal commercial or industrial facility, colour plays a big role. You don’t need to compromise the style of your building and how it fits into its community. Pre-engineered steel panels give you the choice you need to find your public style.
